Image print size and resolution
Compare print dimensions and resolution, preserving aspect ratio for fit or crop. Drag the graph handles to change inputs and explore the result.
Your inputs
The editable example is illustrative. Enter your own dimensions, operating data, prices, and fees. Results update as you edit.
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not saved or sent to analytics.
How it works
- Physical height (in) = / ; PPIₓ = / ( (in)); PPIᵧ = / ( (in))
- Physical width (inch) = /; Fit inside print rectangle = max(px/d); Fill rectangle with crop = min(px/d)
- Worked example: 3,000/300 × 2,400/300 = 10×8 inch = 25.4×20.32 cm; 150 PPI ⇒ 20×16 inch
- Supported input limits: : 1 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000; : 1 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000; : 1e-12 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000,000,000; : 1e-12 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000,000,000; : 1e-12 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000,000,000

Assumptions and limitations
Fit preserves the entire image inside the target box; crop fills it while discarding pixels. PPI describes image samples per inch, not printer ink-dot DPI. Required pixels indicate a target resolution; the tool does not create detail or edit your image.
