Energy converter
Compare joules, watt-hours, calories and other supported energy units.
Your inputs
The editable example is illustrative. Enter your own dimensions, operating data, prices, and fees. Results update as you edit.
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not saved or sent to analytics.
How it works
- Converted value = × f₁ ÷ f₂; SI: J
- Worked example: 1 kWh = 3,600,000 J; 1 Thermochemical kilocalorie = 4,184 J
- Supported input limits: : 0 ≤ x ≤ 1,000,000,000,000

Assumptions and limitations
Calories use the thermochemical definition, 4.184 J per calorie; kilocalories are 1,000 calories. BTU uses the international-table definition. kWh measures energy, not power, so a runtime is needed to relate it to an appliance’s kW rating.
